WSJ

Reading the Wall Street Journal was very effective in learning about mass communications. The paper had several articles daily about topics in mass communications. I was being informed quite well just by reading the Wall Street Journal. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to be updated with information on things I already knew or learning new things by reading a paper.
Some things I learned from the Wall Street Journal is how an item of a large retailer becomes so popular, the average price of an item along with other competing prices, and reviews of book, people etc. If I was to use a textbook I wouldn’t be able to understand what is read without any specific details in daily life. The newspaper helps me do so.
I am not sure if I am likely to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal. It is based on time and effort that I want to read the paper. I don’t want to spend money on a new subscription if I won’t have the time to read it.

The Road

The book and the movie of The Road weren’t as different versions as you would see in other stories. The movie version showed most of the big events that occurred in the book. Such events like finding the bunkers, going into the basement in a house where the “bad “people were holding people to use for food. There were also parts like the boy meeting up with a man at the end after his father has passed to follow with.
There were a few changes. In the book it didn’t mention there were a boy and a girl present with the man and women the boy met wit at the end. Also, the movie didn’t mention the boy and his pap finding the water well. In addition, in the book the boy was described as a boy of less than five years old. In the movie the boy looking like he was ten or twelve.
I can’t decide which was better because both of them were good in their own way. A movie cannot be the exact same thing as the book. The book is too long to have the movie follow page by page. It would be hours for the movie to finish and then that would just get boring. I liked how the movie had the most important parts of the book acted very well. And the actors of the movie were very good. The book is very good because you can describe everything in your own way. It allows you to imagine how you think the story would be.

Internet

Since I was fourteen I always used a social networking service. In the beginning it was Xanga the site where you can write a blog about your ever changing day by day life. Then MySpace which was the site that practically everyone had. And I had MySpace for about 3 years until it died down or I died my site down. MySpace was just full of drama that I didn’t want. And now it is Facebook. At first I thought Facebook sucked because it wasn’t a site you can design to you.
Now I think Facebook is the best I have. You can say it is my favorite social networking site. I don’t have to search hundreds of unknown people to find my friends. All I have to do it just search by their name and there you go. And it doesn’t take years to send a message to a friend. All you have to do is click on their name and send a message right on the spot. Face book is a nice service but I wouldn’t ever pay for it. If I really wanted to keep in touch with friends then that why I have a sidekick. Just text them by using their number. It is not as hard as signing in and then searched your friends. If Facebook was to ever start charging they would lose money. Who would be so dumb to pay for dumb service?

Magazines

I dont really read much magazines. Normally if I do read magazines its once a month when the new issues arrive. Also, when I go to appointments I occasionally read the magazines that are left around. It keeps the time going while I am waiting. Some magazines I read at my appointments are family, food, and celebrity magazines. I happen to just skim these magazines to find something that would catch my eye like pictures of food or famous people that I know or like.
When I read the magazines that arrive in my mailbox they are magazines. For example I order Cosmo and Seventeen. My mom recieves the Rachael Ray magazine and I read that but its nothing much to read besides the recipes. The things I look for in Seventeen or Cosmo are true stories, embarassing moments, horoscopes and fashion ideas.
